The Wing Tsun Training Stance

This stance is so much different than a great many other martial arts. The traditional stances of other martial arts often start out as a very low stance called the “horse stance.” In Wing Tsun we have a stance that uses lightinternal pressure of two legs pulling towards each other. This has been called the adduction stance, meaning you are using the adductor muscles of your legs. It has also been called the “goat riding stance” as if you are trying to ride a goat by pinning your legs together, as opposed to your legs straddling a horse for a “horse stance.”

The character two stance refers to if you draw a line between the left and right toes and the left and right heels, those two lines form the character for the number 2 in Chinese calligraphy!

The muscular action of pinning your legs together is designed to train your legs for the advancing steps of Wing Tsun.
